Laser Marquetry with the Glowforge!
Переглядів 60 тис.4 роки тому
Interested in learning marquetry? Check out this series! I'll take you through completing a marquetry project using three techniques: a laser cutter, double bevel on the scroll saw, and painting in wood on the chevalet. This video goes through doing the project on a Glowforge Pro, though any laser cutter should work. We'll look at taking the design from a vector program and preparing it for the...

In this video I'm building some crates for my wife to use when taking her prints to and from art shows. I use the Shaper Origin to carve her logo into the fronts of the crates. There is no narration or music, but there are some notes in the closed captions. INSTAGRAM: scottbarronfurniture

Making Of: A Marquetry Panel
Переглядів 50 тис.6 років тому
This is just a quick, fun video showing the creation of a marquetry panel using the double bevel cutting technique. The foreground piece and its cavity are cut at the same time, on an angle, so that the pieces fit together without any gaps. In the next video I'll walk through the technique and show you how to make your own, so be sure to subscribe! INSTAGRAM: scottbarronfurniture ...

That tool is freakin' amazing. Have you ever tried down-cut bits? Seems like with those micro cuts, they shouldn't cause the machine to hop... and would eliminate all the frazzle & tear out at the top? Also if you're using a spoil board, why not cut down into it just a little to eliminate that little lip at the bottom?

Thanks, this was helpful. Especially how to round over the corners in illustrator before going to cut and your method of using multiple bits to work down to the 1/32" one. Thanks for sharing this.

I have been wanting a shaper origin ever since it was debuted, which seems like 10 years ago. This maybe has pushed me over the edge to get it. Also you look just like comedic actor Jon Glaser - it's uncanny.

great video, I watched your other videos and wondering if you could advise if getting a CO2 laser or a Shaper Origin first? I'm a wannabe maker (looking to make wall art, signage/plaques, jewellery/vanity boxes). Your advice and wisdom would be greatly appreciated

Great video, I have a Grizzly 15 that has been so out of alignment (in every way) that I pretty much stopped using it. Your video provided me with the information I needed to bring the machine back into the Best performance I've ever had--even when new, back in the 1990's! I would suggest to folks that have issues with knees, hips, eyes, etc. I found using a engine lift to pick up the planer and then placing it on a lift cart that uses a hydraulic cylinder foot pump to raise the cart up to a comfortable height made the job enjoyable and allowed pain free adjusting.

another consideration is that at such small offsets, if a piece of dry inlay sits in a shop where there is a lot of humidity then it will expand enough that it might not fit into the pocket..
